Balloon Unites Girls with Parallel Lives

At her grandparents’ anniversary party in Staffordshire, England, 10-year old Laura Buxton released a red helium balloon into the sky.  On it, she wrote “Please return to Laura Buxton” and noted her address.  Ten days later, a farmer in Milton Lilbourne, Wiltshire, 140 miles away, found the balloon on the edge of his property.  He noticed the girl’s name, and handed the balloon over to his neighbors, the Buxtons, to return to their 10-year old daughter, Laura.  After Laura Buxton from Wiltshire admitted it was not her balloon, she wrote to Laura Buxton from Staffordshire, requesting them to meet.  As it turns out, their age and name weren’t the only characteristics that the girls shared- they are  the same height, wore the same exact  pink sweater and jeans for their meeting,  had the same brown hair pulled back in the same style, and they both had the exact same three types of pets – a black Labrador Retriever, a grey pet rabbit, and a striped guinea pig.  No, the girls are not related… but they are still good friends today.

Fate or Coincidence?
